Car body shops

Our automation solutions for car body shops have proved that rough industrial conditions and high availability are not mutually exclusive.

High-performance control systems, rugged I/O modules with IP67 degree of protection, the FO-based communication and a comprehensive diagnostics tool minimize the downtimes.

Optimum hardware and software solutions ensure high system availability

Production of a wide range of car body variants in a cycle of half a minute
The car body shop is marked through the manufacturing of various body variants in cycles of half a minute where the numerous robots generate high temperatures, vibrations, welding splashes and electromagnetic fields.

In order to ensure a high availability and shorter start-up times, setup and boot-up times of the systems, Phoenix Contact provides a uniform engineering concept based on PC WORX in addition to resistant FO cabling with preventive diagnostics.

Easy integration of INTERBUS systems into Profinet IO

Within the scope of Profinet communication, the existing fieldbus-based part systems such as welding cells can be integrated into a uniform communication and diagnostics concept via a Proxy.

The standardized Profinet-Proxy specification allows all field devices to be accessed. Against this background, our INTERBUS-Proxy connects an INTERBUS application realized with copper or FO technology to any Profinet-compatible control system easily. Here, Proxy is parameterized via the relevant programming tool, PC WORX, for example.

Automatic generation of circuit diagrams, programs and visualizations

Automatic generation of circuit diagrams, programs and visualizations
Since engineering constitutes a large part of the total costs of a system, it must be as easy as possible. As a modular system-based data center, the Eplan Engineering Center, for example, ensures automatic generation of circuit diagrams and programs.

A visualization assistant integrated in the PC WORX automation software is then used to automatically generate the visualization from the relevant program in the desired national language. This helps in saving considerable time during start-up.

Decentral automation in rough industrial environments

The robust Rugged Line modules with IP65/67 degree of protection have a zinc die-cast housing.

Therefore, they can be assembled next to electrode holders and grippers without terminal boxes. This facilitates the planning and project planning for the systems.

Device replacement without using tools, a detailed diagnostics of the connected sensor and actuator systems and permanent monitoring and regulation of FO transfer paths lead to high system availability.

High system availability due to power supply units with the SFB technology

QUINT POWER power supply units with SFB technology
Quint-Power power supply units from Phoenix Contact maximize the system availability with the SFB technology (Selective Fuse breaking Technology), six times the nominal current for 12 ms.

For the first time, standard power circuit-breakers can thus be triggered reliably and quickly. Defective current paths are selectively switched off and important system parts remain in operation. Moreover, the preventive function monitoring reports critical operating modes before they can lead to errors.
