Paint shop

Just like all the phases of automobile production, high flexibility and short throughput times are indispensable requirements when painting the vehicles.

In addition, a sophisticated control concept with built-in process diagnostics ensures the precise painting process and optimum processing quality of individual components.

Reliable control of individual production processes

Control of individual production processes
Painting is a complex process which is carried out in several stages. Conveyor systems are used to transport vehicles and vehicle parts from the total rinsing unit, the prime coating unit and the filling unit up to the roof and base lacquering systems. Forming a batch is often not possible since various colors are to be used.

This makes exacting demands on the control technique that is responsible for a smooth production process.

Highest processing speeds for challenging applications

DIN rail-mountable control systems by Phoenix Contact can be used centrally as well as decentrally. The ILC 390 PN 2TX-IB is the device designed for special and high performance requirements in a paint shop.

The modular control systems that can be extended with the terminals of the Inline installation system can be easily integrated into the network owing to its open interfaces.
IT standards such as FTP, HTTP and SNMP ensure continuous data transfer to the ERP system or the MES without interruptions in the system.

One software solution for all control systems

AUTOMATIONWORX programming software
AUTOMATIONWORX Software Suite
All control systems by Phoenix Contact can be universally configured and programmed using PC WORX. The languages defined in IEC 61131-3 are supported.

The automation software also offers other functions such as configuring Interbus, Ethernet and Profinet IO networks, and an extensive diagnostics.

User-friendly editors, an integrated simulation environment for program tests without hardware and the online modification capability help in creating and modifying the programs quickly.

In the AUTOMATIONWORX Software Suite, we provide all engineering tools.

Simple integration of HART-based process devices

The HART protocol is often used in process control systems such as paint shops to exchange data and measured values. Being a part of our extensive Inline installation system, the IB IL AI 2/HART input module converts analog and HART signals into standardized process and parameter data that can be further used in the control system and engineering environment.

Since our PC WORX engineering system supports FDT technology, HART devices can be easily configured, which in turn reduces the commissioning cost of the system considerably.

Economic wiring in the field

Sensor/Actuator cabling in the field
In distributed connection methods, passive distributor systems connect the peripheral devices and the control system. Phoenix Contact offers the most comprehensive range of sensor/
actuator cabling on the market.

In addition to shielded versions of pre-assembled cables with 3 to 17 positions, sensor/actuator boxes are available for the economic wiring of sensors and actuators.

Instead of several individual cables, only one master cable is laid from the control system to
the sensor/actuator box containing the power supply and control cables for peripheral
devices.
