Save space using a pluggable and codable interface
"Pernis", one of the largest petroleum refineries of the mineral oil group Shell, located in the neighborhood of the large Dutch seaport Rotterdam.
4600 employees process 5.6 million cubic meters of crude oil (350000 barrels) daily on the 500 hectares of land in about 60 "small factories" of benzene, industrial gasses, plastics, oils and chemical compounds for the processing industry.
Even here, the control cabinets have INTERFACE modules from Phoenix Contact. The signal lines of sensors and actuators in the field are, for example, wired using knife disconnect terminal blocks.
From there it goes via routing wiring to the special VARIOFACE modules that reduce installation costs considerably by means of safe and easy plug connections.
Use of the routing concept from Phoenix Contact has led to a 30% reduction in space requirement as well as in a considerable reduction in costs.
