New protocol chip: INTERBUS SUPI4

The IBS SUPI4 protocol chip for INTERBUS devices has been added to the product range of the interface implementation.

Thedevelopment of the IBS SUPI4 provides a protocol chip that meets the future requirements in the automation technology through optimized system properties and system functions.

In this way, cost-effective availability of the INTERBUS technology is ensured in the long term and kept up-to-date.

With a considerably reduced power consumption through the use of
3.3 V technology and effortt involved in implementation reduced by up to 80%, the IBS SUPI4 offers the best prerequisites for future-oriented application.

The inputs and outputs are also 5 V tolerant allowing the existing components to continue to be used.

High potential savings

Due to the expansion of the internal register structure to up to 64 bytes of input data and 64bytes of output data, the serial register expansions are no longer required.

In this way, savings can be made with less printed circuit board surface and shorter development times.

In order to support increasingly high-performance control systems, the IBS SUPI4 supports transmission speeds of up to 16 MBaud.

In this way, the INTERBUS has been improved to an optimum for the execution of demanding positioning and closed-loop control tasks.

Through the support of the INTERBUS basic profile, the manufacturer and device designation as well as order no. and further relevant data from INTERBUS devices can be clearly identified in PROFINET networks.

Device parameters are entered directly in the user interface of the programming system. Device-specific diagnostic messages are indicated in the relevant control system. In this way, the INTERBUS devices are optimally integrated in the PROFINET networks.

IBS SUPI4 is available in two housing versions:

  • IBS SUPI4 TQFP (Order No.. 2988117; 64 pins)
  • IBS SUPI4 QFN   (Order No.. 2746744; 52 plate)

The QFN 52 housing has integrated connections that can be directly processed as SMD component. The inductive and capacitive connection values and the EMC behavior have thus been greatly improved.

The components can be soldered more reliably as co-planarity problems can no longer occur. Using a copper block, an optimal thermal connection can be ensured.
