RJ 45 standard for distributed automation
In automation technology, Industrial Ethernet is increasingly used. The VARIOSUB-RJ45/IP67 are the suitable plug connectors and fulfill the requirements of IAONA for use in the heavy-duty area, leading the standard plug connector of the office world on-site into the harsh industrial environment. With the new VARIOSUB plug connectors, there is no longer anything standing in the way of implementing Ethernet with RJ 45. The concept of distributed automation transports the automation components away from the control cabinet directly to the machine or system. It is clear that more exacting environmental influences are to be expected there. An RJ 45 plug from the office world is not constructed for such cases and is quickly overtaxed.
The VARIOSUB-RJ45/IP67 was developed specially to stand up against such stress and to effectively protect the RJ 45 contact insert.
For protection against dirt and damp, the VARIOSUB-RJ45/IP67 fulfills the requirements of IP 67 protection, and temporary submersion is even possible. The housing is made of a polyamide with high impact strength, temperature resistant and UV stable, and is resistant to typical chemicals, oils and greases. The construction can reliably stand up to shock, vibration, withdrawal forces between the mounting and sleeve side, transverse forces on the sleeve housing and cable withdrawal forces from the screw connection. The components have elaborate shielding as protection against high EMC loads.
Plug connectors for automation technology - VARIOSUB RJ45/IP67
For fast and reliable assembly in the field, the VARIOSUB-RJ45 is fitted with an insertion aid for the individual wires. The cable can use either a rigid or a flexible conductor of AWG 24 to AWG 26.
With VARIOSUB, locking between the panel mounting frame and the sleeve housing is by means of Push-Pull actuation. This simplifies both startup and work in the event of servicing, thanks to its easy system of plugging on, unplugging and replugging instead of complicated screw locking. The VARIOSUB-RJ45/IP67 plug connector is suitable for Fast Ethernet transmission with 100 Mbit/s in acc. with Class D, or Category 5 in acc. with EN 50173 in the 2001 version. This standard is also known as Cat 5+ and is synonymous with future security and adequate reserves for system modernization. VARIOSUB-RJ45/IP67 also offers pin compatibility with the standard RJ 45. Conventional conductors and testing devices from the office world can thus continue to be used without the need for clumsy adapters or similar solutions. There is a panel mounting frame available with a female insert into which an RJ 45 can also be plugged from the inside, making a control cabinet feed-through possible, for example. The connection to the device in the control cabinet can then be made with a standard patch cable.
