Surge protection for wind-powered systems

The new VAL-MS 800/30 VF/FM surge protection device for wind power provides a block, which was developed specifically for the protection of the rotor of double powered asynchronous generators (DFIG).

Protection of synchronous generators is also possible for permanently excited machines and generator side inverters for all generator types. For these applications, three blocks are required that can be comfortably connected to the
MPB 18/1-6 assembly jumpers.

The product has application-oriented protective properties and is quite durable due to the leakage-current free version. Connector and base element form one unit. The connectors are mechanically interlocked and are highly resistant to shocks and vibration. The installation in separate housings is not required, - that saves additional costs.

If a connector displays a fault due to overload caused by surge voltages, an indicator directly indicates the status. It can then be simply exchanged. The floating PDT allows remote monitoring of the arrester.
The protection concept for the widely used double double fed asynchronous induction generator (DFIG) is rounded off to the stator side with the VAL-MS 750/30/3+0-FM block.
