Safe coupling relay for process automation

With the PSR-FSP, Phoenix Contact has developed a coupling relay that has been specially adapted to failsafe controllers used in process automation. All requirements regarding use in applications up to SIL 3 as per IEC 61508 are thus fulfilled.

The module comprises positively driven safety relays whose contacts have optimized opening behavior in case of an error.

The special requirements of a failsafe controller are taken into account by the integrated test pulse filter to increase the service life as well as by a control circuit to adjust power consumption.

Testing device groups

The coupling relay provides you with a normally open and alarm contact for external wiring with a width of only 17.5 mm .

A series connection of the alarm contacts of individual relays can be used to form device groups that can be tested together.

These groups can be function units of a system or complete PLC output cards. Advantage: Proof tests can be conducted quickly and easily.

Integrated standard fuse

The maximum switching current per normally open contact is 5 A.

A 5x20 mm externally accessible standard fuse for the purpose of securing the load contact is also integrated.

The wiring is made considerably easier by the pluggable and keyed screw or spring-cage terminal blocks.
