Technologies, mounting types, and features

Mounting types

COMBICON headers (pin strips) are available in three different versions, which are suitable for different mounting types:
  • Wave soldering
  • Reflow soldering
  • Press-in technology

The specifications and possible applications of these methods are explained in more detail below. The direct plug-in method must be used if you wish to connect connectors to the PCB without using a mounting method.

The COMBICON control product range offers five different options for conductor connection:
  1. Screw connection with tension sleeve, pressure clip or wire protector technology
  2. Push-in spring-cage technology
  3. Spring-cage technology
  4. Displacement connection
  5. Crimp connection

Contact systems

In order to protect PCB terminal blocks and connectors against corrosion and environmental influences, high requirements are placed on the metal contact surfaces.

In addition, the contact system plays an import role with regard to contact resistance and insertion/withdrawal cycles.

If systems are installed in potentially explosive areas, a large number of safety precautions must be taken.

The requirements placed on electrical equipment for use in areas with a danger of gas explosions are described in the IEC/EN 60079 series of standards.
