Prerequisites
All the information on these pages can be found in this document.

Prerequisites for a working EDI connection
- An Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) is capable of exporting or importing business data as a file. This system acts as the target or original system for all business cases (order, order confirmation, delivery note, invoice, etc.).
- It is based on standard exchange formats (e.g. EDIFACT, ODETTE, ANSI X.12), communication services (e.g. ISDN, Telebox, eMail) and protocols (e.g. OFTP, X.400).
- "EDI converter software" that is capable of converting the business documents exported as a file into a standard exchange format (e.g. EDIFACT).
- Transmission of the data via service provider or Internet. If the Internet is used as a transmission medium, a suitable encoding procedure is recommended.
- Agreement to ensure regular comparison of master data between the systems to ensure that the transmitted data is high quality.

Security and confidentiality
To guarantee secure and confidential transmission, Phoenix Contact uses only trustworthy service providers for data transmission (e.g. Deutsche Post World Net or VPN).
Internet transmission (e.g. mail) is safeguarded either via PGP coding (Pretty Good Privacy) or coded transmission (https).
