Guide for your browser settings

Configure the following settings to ensure the correct display of our website.



Recommended browser versions

We usually recommend using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher or Mozilla Firefox version 2.0 or higher.

This guide is with reference to the browser versions specified above. If you have a different browser version, the steps required to configure the settings may be slightly different. Help is available on the homepage of the respective browser.


Javascript - Setting in Internet Explorer

The following settings are necessary to activate Javascript:

  1. Select the "Internet options" menu item under the "Tools" menu.
  2. Then in the "Security" menu, select the "Internet" icon as the web content zone for which you want to modify the security settings.
  3. Click on the "Custom level" button.
  4. In the dialog box that opens, select the "Enable" option under "Scripting/ActiveScripting".
  5. Confirm your selection with "OK".    

If you want to enable Javascript only for particular sites, select "Trusted Sites", then "Custom level" and enable Javascript as described above. 
Using the "Sites" button, you can now enter the websites for which you want to enable Javascript.


Javascript - Setting in Mozilla Firefox

The following settings are necessary to activate Javascript:

  1. Select the "Settings" menu item under the "Tools" menu.
  2. Then select "Contents" and check the field "Enable Javascript".


Pop-up Blocker - Setting in Internet Explorer

We recommend deactivating the pop-up blocker in order to ensure an error-free operation.

Proceed as follows:

  1. In the "Tools" menu, select the "Pop-up Blocker" menu item and then select Turn Off/Turn On Pop-up Blocker.

The pop-up blocker can also be enabled or disabled as follows:

  1. Select the "Internet options" menu item under the "Tools" menu.
  2. Then in the "Security" menu, first select "Internet" as the web content zone for which you want to modify the security settings.
  3. Then click on the "Custom level" button.
  4. In the menu that opens, select the "Enable" option under "Use Pop-up Blocker".
  5. Confirm your selection with "OK".

Also keep in mind that most Explorer toolbars that can be downloaded from various search engines have their own integrated pop-up blockers, which generally provide no indication when a pop-up is blocked.

We would recommend deactivating the pop-up blocker in order to ensure a problem-free operation.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Select the "Settings" menu item under the "Tools" menu. 
  2. Select "Content" and check the "Block pop-up windows" field.


Downloading and installing Flash Player

The Adobe Flash Player should be installed, so that you can view the animated and interactive contents of our sites.

Even if you have already installed the player, we recommend updating to the latest Flash Player version.


Installing Flash Player in Internet Explorer

When you click on the "To the Adobe Download Center" link from the previous section of this help, you go to the Adobe website.

  1. It is necessary for you to be logged on to your PC as the administrator in order to be able to install the Adobe Flash Player. The appropriate administrative access is normally provided by your in-house technical support department.
  2. Please close all other browser windows before starting the installation.
  3. Click on "Install now" in order to download the Adobe Flash Player and install it automatically in the Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  4. Depending on the security settings, a dialog box with a security warning is displayed.
  5. Click on "Yes" to accept the ActiveX component .


Installing Flash Player in Mozilla Firefox

When you click on the "To the Adobe Download Center" link from the previous section of this help, you go to the Adobe website.

  1. It is necessary for you to be logged on to your PC as the administrator in order to be able to install the Adobe Flash Player. The appropriate administrative access is  normally
    provided by your in-house technical support department.
  2. Please close all other browser windows before starting the installation.
  3. Click on "Install Now" to download Adobe Flash Player.
  4. The "Downloads" menu item under the "Tools" menu contains a file "install_flash_player.exe".
  5. Start the installation by clicking on "Open" in the dialog window.
  6. A message which requests you to close the browser is displayed. You can then start the installation.
  7. After that, restart Mozilla Firefox.


The installation of the Flash Player does not start

After clicking "Install Now", you might see the following screen:

A reason for this could be that your computer still contains remnants of a previous Flash Player installation.
In such a case, please contact your technical support department or uninstall the previous version via the control panel.


Flash Player Settings Manager

When animated and interactive contents are called up for the first time using the installed Flash Player, a message may be displayed which says that the Adobe Flash Player TM has stopped an unsecured process.

If you click on   "Settings" here, you go to the Adobe website. There, you are provided with the Settings Manager which can be used to configure the necessary settings.

After you click on  "Settings", you go to the Adobe Website Settings Manager, which can be used to configure the necessary settings. The Settings Manager is not a screen, but rather an interactive element that guides you through the configuration.

Activating Flash in Internet Explorer

You have installed the Flash Player, but the animated and interactive contents of the website are not displayed in the Internet Explorer.

Flash may be deactivated in the browser settings.

The following settings  are necessary to activate the Flash Plugin:

  1. Select the "Manage Add-ons" menu item under the "Tools" menu.
  2. In the dialog window that opens, mark Add-on for Flash Plugin, e.g. "Macromedia Flash Object".
  3. Now select the "Enable" option.
  4. Close the dialog box by clicking on "OK".

Then, restart your browser to activate the new settings.
